CUT - Container Utilization Transformation

CUT evaluates how declared shipment volumes are distributed across multiple containers and identifies opportunities to reduce container count through feasible consolidation.

CUT is typically used during shipment planning and booking, when container allocation decisions are being finalized.

The analysis is based on physical container constraints and feasible load plans. CUT highlights utilization gaps and consolidation potential. It does not recommend commercial actions or alter declared demand.

CUT compares declared shipment volumes with feasible Full Container Load (FCL) and Less-than-Container Load (LCL) allocations to classify shipments into:

  • Risk — declared cargo cannot be fully allocated within selected container configurations, resulting in unplanned volume.
  • Stuffing Opportunity — unused capacity within planned containers allows additional cargo to be accommodated without increasing container count.
  • Saving Opportunity — low-utilization volumes indicate potential to consolidate shipments and reduce container count.
  • Pass — declared container utilization is already aligned with feasible loading.
  • Exploration — optional scenarios used to test container capacity (e.g., very low declared volumes). These are excluded from execution insights by default.
