CUT - Container Utilization Transformation

CUT evaluates how declared shipment volumes are distributed across multiple containers and identifies opportunities to reduce container count through feasible consolidation.

CUT is typically applied during shipment planning and booking, when container allocation decisions are being finalized.

The analysis is based on physical container constraints and feasible load plans. CUT highlights utilization gaps and consolidation potential; it does not recommend commercial actions or alter declared demand.

CUT compares declared shipment volumes with feasible Full Container Load (FCL) and Less-than-Container Load (LCL) allocations to identify:

  • Risk — shipments where load optimization cannot fully allocate declared cargo due to restrictive container selection or configuration, resulting in unplanned volume.
  • Opportunity — shipments where load optimization reveals available container capacity, allowing additional cargo to be accommodated without increasing container count, or highlighting low-utilization volumes that may be consolidated.
  • Pass — declared container utilization is already aligned
